HappyNotch Privacy Policy
Effective 5 November 2026
HappyNotch is a Mac app by Shaltiel Industries. It collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, and it sends nothing about you to us or to anyone else.
WHAT THE APP READS, AND WHERE IT STAYS
HappyNotch reads information on your Mac to show it to you: processor, memory, disk, network, battery, GPU, and thermal readings; what Music or Spotify is playing; the apps running on your Mac, once you allow it; your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and appearance settings; and, if you switch those features on, today's calendar events and the texts you copy. All of it stays on your Mac and is shown only to you. Clipboard history is kept in memory and is gone when the app quits. Your settings are stored on your Mac by macOS.
THE ONE NETWORK REQUEST
When Spotify is playing, HappyNotch fetches the album art from the address Spotify provides. That request goes to Spotify's servers and is covered by Spotify's privacy policy. The app makes no other network request.
PERMISSIONS
macOS asks for your permission before HappyNotch can: control Music, Spotify, or Finder (to read what is playing, to play, pause, and skip, and to empty the Trash); use your location (only to show the Wi-Fi network's name, which macOS gives to no app without it); read your calendars (for Up next); use Bluetooth (to list the connected devices); and check whether the camera is in use (for the camera light; it never captures video). Each permission is asked only when the feature that needs it is switched on, and each can be withdrawn in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Task Manager asks inside the app before it reads the running apps, and the app's Settings → General turns it off again.
CHILDREN
HappyNotch is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
